The K-1 Fiance Visa is one of the most helpful and easiest ways to get a future spouse into the United States to live with you, eventually becoming a resident and on the path to citizenship. It is administered by the USCIS (United States Citizenship and Immigration Services). The beauty of this visa is that it allows a fiance to come to the United States regardless of background or country, as long as they can handle some basics, like a health exam, proof of no dual intent, and agree to get married in the United States (or return to their home country in a certain number of days). I applied to have my Canadian wife brought over to the United States.
In this blog I want to cover a number of topics, whether they are misconceptions, common questions asked or nerves (because this can be a daunting and time consuming process. I will cover:
Whether or not to get a lawyer
How long the process should or could take
What proof is needed in supplementary files
How to handle your interview
What effects the outcome
How you're allowed to travel before, during and after
And Many More...
I will also cover some alternatives that others might be interested in such as a NAFTA visa or a marriage visa.
